Mahindra Sri Lanka's new plant starts operations to produce small SUV KUV100
On August 17, Mahindra announced the start of operation of a new assembly plant in Welipenna, a suburb of Colombo, Sri Lanka.The small SUV KUV100 is off the assembly line with Mahindra Ideal Lanka Pvt. Ltd, a joint venture with Ideal Motor in Sri Lanka.Other models will be launched in the next three years.A new factory with the latest technology will be built in a site covering more than 10 acres (about 4 hectares) with an annual production capacity of 5,000 units.Mahindra Ideal Lanka will purchase four components for batteries, tires, seats and exhaust systems in Sri Lanka.It plans to add 200 direct and indirect jobs in the next two years.
